Artist Statement

I aim to express delicacy and fragility through subject and material - I tend to focus on nature, particularly plant life for its unique flourishing qualities which I seek to reflect within my designs, as well as through the paper I use to print upon.

My interest in nature is for its ethereal beauty; I aim to show the intricacies of the world that many people may miss, or take for granted. My latest set of prints, Peverell Pears, track the growth of a pear tree as it develops from bud to producing fruit, a fascinating process which is often missed throughout daily life.

I look towards Wabi-Sabi and minimalism with my designs to create quiet yet contemplating statement pieces that are alluring. Each woodblock is designed, carved and printed by hand.

I mainly work with woodblocks as they allow a higher level of control over the designs I create and print, whilst giving me complete immersion into the designs I carve. I use Calico Safewash Inks for all my designs.
